2 Serenades

"The work is entitled "Two Serenades," and in effect they function as anti-serenades. They both take one aspect of a serenade and isolate that in a completely different context. For the first one - it is a deeply lyrical piece (and should be felt and played as such!), but the actual content itself is dissonant, intense, grief-stricken, and emotional. The second one makes use of the concept of this ever-returning 'melody,' but has a completely different atmosphere and rhythmic setting than any traditional serenade."
